When swung by holding the jump button, a Challenger's Sword deals 2 Melee Damage. If swung from a standstill, you will attack at the peak of your jump. It is similar to Old Sword, though far superior, swinging twice as quickly and dealing full throwing damage rather than only half of its swing damage. It is statistically identical to the Bitchbane, and can be used in the same crafting recipes.
